19 of Daniil Medvedev's 21 titles have been earned on hard courts

A resurgent Daniil Medvedev claimed his initial championship for over two years with a win over Corentin Moutet in the competition final.

Medvedev, a ex- number one, has had a challenging period, managing just a single victory at the major tournaments and suffering a setback at the New York tournament.

Medvedev's varied form on the ATP Tour - and issues with his serving in specific - resulted in him falling of the world's top 10 and eventually separating with former mentor Cervara.

Currently working with Thomas Johansson and his other coach, Medvedev has steadily advanced in the last few weeks - climaxing in a hard-fought three-set win over Frenchman Moutet.

This marks his first championship following the Italian tournament and maiden on a hard court after March of the previous year.

The win also signifies Medvedev has secured twenty-one championships at twenty-one different tournaments.

"This marks the first occasion I have attended a event with my both daughters simultaneously, so to get a title is especially meaningful," commented world number 14 the champion.

"This championship is in dedication of my younger daughter Victoria, because the maiden victory I won when my first daughter my daughter was born was for her."

The athlete, the past champion, had lost his previous six title deciders, featuring in that event earlier this year.

The player's retrieving play style and frequent outbursts on court had caused some to doubt if his skill to play at the elite level was concluded.

But the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in the past month, attempting to come to the net and perform aggressively, backed up by an improved serve.

He fought back from a deficit in the opening set against the difficult opponent, taking four of the last five points to gain the advantage.

The competitors swapped breaks in the middle set before the Frenchman, attempting for his maiden tour championship, gained dominance to push for a final set.

He saved four early-game opportunities in a competitive deciding set before the champion won the break to that score to serve for the match.

Appropriately, Medvedev clinched the win with a rally at the net area, with his opponent incapable to manage a shot after a lengthy match.
